MANA Mission Statement: The Massachusetts Association of Nurse Anesthetists is a non-profit organization dedicated to the professional interests of nurse anesthetists in the state of Massachusetts. Our main objectives are: patient safety through the advancement of the science and art of anesthesia, as well as the promotion of cooperation between nurse anesthetists, all medical professionals, hospitals and other agencies interested in anesthesia.

Article I - NAME

The organization shall be known as the Massachusetts Association of Nurse Anesthetists, Inc. As used in the by-laws, the term "association" shall be deemed to mean this organization.


Article II - OBJECTIVES

The objectives of this Association include the promotion of the common business and professional interests of nurse anesthetists, the advancement of the science and art of anesthesia, and the facilitation and promotion of cooperation between nurse anesthetists and the medical profession, hospitals and other agencies interested in anesthesia.


Article III - MEMBERSHIP

SECTION 1 MEMBERSHIP - Membership in this Association and procedures with respect to admission to membership, maintenance of membership, classes of membership, qualification therefore, and the exercise of the privileges thereof shall be such as are stipulated in the by-laws of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists as such by-laws are constituted from time to time.

SECTION 2 CONDUCT OF MEMBERS - If the conduct of any member shall appear to be in willful violation of the By -Laws of this Association, or prejudicial to the interests of this Association, the Board of Directors may, by vote of two thirds (2/3) of the entire Board, suspend or expel such member. Before action is taken, a written copy of the charges must be presented to the Board of Directors of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists for consideration and counsel. If after consultation with the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists' Board of Directors, the Board of Directors of this Association shall elect to press charges, a written copy of the charges must be served upon the member and an opportunity given that member to be heard before the Board of Directors. A recommendation for the suspension or expulsion of such member shall also be made to the Board of Directors of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. A motion to reconsider the suspension or expulsion of a member from this Association may be made at any meeting of the Board of Directors.


ARTICLE IV - RECOGNITIONS

SECTION I. HONORS - Honors may be given to members upon the recommendation of the Board of
Directors and with a majority vote of the members of the organization by presentation of awards or other honors without conferring honorary membership.

SECTION 2. Platinum - Contributions of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) and over shall have a Platinum designation. The names of such contributors shall be placed in the permanent records of this Association.

SECTION 3. Gold - Contributions of One hundred Dollars ($100.00) and over shall have a Gold designation. The names of such contributors shall be placed in the permanent records of this Association.

SECTION 4. Silver - Contributions of Fifty Dollars ($50.00) to Ninety-Nine Dollars ($99.00) shall have a Silver designation. The names of such contributors shall be placed in the permanent records of this Association.

SECTION 5. Bronze - Contributions of less than Fifty Dollars ($50.00) shall have a Bronze designation The names of such contributors shall be placed in the permanent records of this Association.

SECTION 6. INACTIVE MEMBERS - Inactive members, as determined in accordance with the by-laws of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, shall be entitled to all rights and privileges of active members except that they shall not be entitled to vote in elections or otherwise or be counted for purposes of determining a quorum. Inactive members may be restored to active membership by complying with current American Association of Nurse Anesthetists’ standards.

SECTION 7. SPONSORS, ADVISORS and FRIENDS of the ASSOCIATION -
The Board of Directors may designate certain persons or groups of persons as sponsors, advisors, affiliates, associates or other such title as they may deem appropriate. Such persons shall serve in an honorary capacity and shall in such capacity have no right to notice of or to vote at any meeting, shall not be considered for purposes of establishing a quorum and shall have no other rights or responsibilities.
